Overview

The West Feliciana Classic is more than just a weekend event.  It is the cultivation of cycling as an economic development tool for St. Francisville and West Feliciana Parish!  Beginning this past November, the West Feliciana Classic helped sponsor the Beast Master Mountain Bike Race at the West Feliciana Sports Park.  A grueling event for Mountain Bike Riders, the event was promoted in area newspapers and featured in the St. Francisville Democrat, as well as the tunicatrails.org website.  Picture perfect is the only way you could describe the event, the weather for it, and  the pure fun of participants ranging in age from early 50’s to as young as 15.  Riders both male and female came from Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Hammond and many brought friends along.  This is the kind of visitor we endeavor to have return to St. Francisville and West Feliciana Parish again and again.

Coming Sunday, March 7th, 2010 is the Rouge Roubaix.  Sponsored by the West Feliciana Classic, the Roubaix is in its’ 12th year in West Feliciana and was featured last year in the New York Times.  The Roubaix draws riders from all across America, including professionals and sponsored teams, and is becoming a featured race in this part of the country because of the beauty and favorable riding environment of West Feliciana parish.  What better way to promote our parish than by allowing these types of individuals to come here and sample all we have to offer! 

These promotions, underscored by numerous bike shop owners, cycling aficionados, racing blogs and word of mouth will help promote the 2nd Annual West Feliciana Classic, which is a licensed, association sanctioned event.  The only sanctioned event allowed on Memorial Weekend in Mississippi and Louisiana.
